KOREA : Overseas Immersion Program 2011

Saturday, October 22th 2011, UII sent 30 students to SolBridge International School of Business in Daejeon, South Korea for Overseas Immersion Program. Fortunately, within this group there are 7 International Program  FTI Students, they are Nanda, Aziz, Adit, Risha, Tufa, Adi, and Arman. This program ran for 1 week, from 22th - 30th October 2011. This program contains among other activities such as company visit, culture classes, and lectures. This program aimed to increase ability to participate in academic sessions of a real business university, learning from world-class scholars, getting to know university students from other countries, learning more about cooperation of world of Academia and Business, and learning about how Korea, as one of the fastest growing Economic powers.


In the first day, we had 3 lectures with 3 different lecturer, they are CEO of B Braun Asia/Pacific, Mr. Kim Hae Dong, Prof. Dawn Devies, and Prof. Dilip. K. Das. Prof. Dawn Devis taught us about intercultural exchanges, we divided into a several groups that consist of students who come from different town to understand what their culture. Prof. Dilip K. Das explained about Asian Business, it was very interesting. And the CEO of B Braun held some quiz and one of us could solve the quiz (her name is Novi, FTI reguler student).
The second day, we had trip to Seoul, we visited LG+, Samsung d'Lite, Myeongdong and Seoul Tower. We looked the next generation of data transmission, it is LTE (Long Term Evolution), this technology allowed us to make chain network in some area.
The third day, we went to ETRI (Electronic Telecommunications Research Institute), this research centre was invented a CDMA technology. Then, we visited Korean Gingseng Company, Chan Kwang Jan, the biggest gingseng company in Korea. We looked how ginger could ready to serve after passed a several prcocess.
The Fourth day, we visit Hyundai Motor in Ulsan, POSCO in Pohang and a water garden in Kyeongju. Hyundai is one of the biggest company in Korea, in nest day we would to visit the Hyundai Heavy Industry.
The fifth day, we visited Hyuandai Heavy Industri as I told in previous chapter. In the evening, we had farewell celebration and certificate distribution.
The sixth day, we had trip to Seoul again, but this trip we gathered with Woosong University student, we visited Nandaemun market, Myeongdong, and Kyeonbukung Palace.
The seventh day, we depart for Jakarta.



It was nice experience in Korea, met with a nice person from other countries make us so happy can share each other. Hopefully, this program will be conducted next year. I will post some picture of us in Korea.
